Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney had scans on his injured ankle yesterday.
The striker is ruled out for up to three weeks after being taken off against Bolton on Sunday.
Rooney will miss Manchester United's clashes with Valencia and Sunderland, as well as England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro on October 12.
While his United team-mates were away in Spain for Wednesday's Champions League showdown, Rooney visited the private Bridgewater Hospital in Manchester for a check-up.
