Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says they're aiming to buy players to make them title contenders.
Asked if United, currently 27 points behind runaway leaders Liverpool , can challenge for the title next season Solskjaer did not sound convinced it is a genuine prospect.
“That's the aim, of course," said Solskjaer. “I'm not saying it's a realistic one.
“We're behind, and a fair rate behind the top one now, who we play on Sunday, and we'll see where we are against them.
“But with a few signings, with the improvement these are making, in the next couple of years, we want to do that.
“I'm delighted with the players who have been on the pitch. This is a group you can work with, that will give you everything, that is the core of what the team will be going forward for me.
“We're looking at a couple of signings, strengthening here and there, but the core group is there, the attitude is there and the physical robustness."
