Manchester City's David Silva is the latest to lend his support to the ever-increasing demand for a winter break in English football.
The 29-year-old Spanish midfielder, who is currently holidaying in Gran Canaria, believes the congested fixture list between December and January is putting footballers at a higher risk of burnout
"Maybe the English should stop playing in December, that would be perfect," he told The Sun.
"I know in the UK it is a tradition to play during that period, yet it would be something special to be able to spend Christmas with my family."
