Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is the UEFA Midfielder of the Year.

The Belgian won the honor thanks to his excellent performances in the Champions League last season.

The Citizens only made it to the quarter finals of the competition, falling to Lyon.

But De Bruyne did enough in those matches to convince voters that he was the star midfielder of the season.

He was the top assist provider in Europe last term, while he also scored goals against Real Madrid and Lyon in the knockout rounds.

De Bruyne and City will be hoping to go all the way in this season's competition.
