Man City star Bernardo hails their special Benfica influence

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is delighted playing with Portugal teammates Joao Cancelo and Ruben Dias.

Speaking with O Jogo, Bernardo is happy with the Benfica influence at City.

He said, "In Portugal yes, but not here in England. Here it is bluer... We are the three red and white in Portugal and blue and white in England. I played with Cancelo seven years in the academy of Benfica, from 12 to 19. I even trained with Rúben a few times, but he is three years younger. But I remember him very well then. It's always good to be with them.

"In fact, I experienced a similar situation when I arrived in Monaco. At that time, at an early stage, I was lucky to meet João Moutinho and Ricardo Carvalho who helped me a lot in adapting to the club, as it was my first experience outside Portugal. I had only played for Benfica until then and catching João and Ricardo helped me a lot.

"There are days when you're more grumpy and having people who know you well help you get through those more boring moments. It's great to have Ruben and Cancelo here at City every day."
