Barcelona made an attempt for Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres during transfer talks this summer.
Barca and City officials - including Blaugrana president Joan Laporta and City manager Pep Guardiola - met face-to-face on more than one occasion over the summer to discuss player exchanges.
City trio Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva, along with Barca pair Sergi Roberto and Antoine Griezmann, before his return to Atletico Madrid, were all raised. The meetings were held after former City pair Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero joined Barca in Bosman deals.
Sport says Barca also asked for Torres, but were given short shrift by their City counterparts. After delivering their answer, City then offered Sterling on-loan, but an agreement couldn't be struck.
