Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho believes that he can return to his home country at the end of the season.

The 37-year-old is out of contract at City when this term concludes.

The veteran may be in demand from European clubs, but has a desire to conclude his career in his homeland.

He told the media last month: "I want to play.

"I will go back to Brazil. I decided with my family, which is the most important thing for me.

"It is the same as last season. I'm not playing much but I take care of other players and try to help wherever I can — on or off the pitch."

Journalist Fabrizio Romano added that the player believes he can sign for Athletico Paranaense in the summer.
