Manchester City centre back Nathan Ake is reportedly close to signing a new long-term deal with the club.

The Dutch defender had been linked with a City exit as recently as the January transfer window.

However, he made himself invaluable to manager Pep Guardiola towards the end of last term.

Now Fabrizio Romano states the club have reached an agreement with Ake on an extension.

He will be putting pen to paper on a contract that will likely see him through to his mid-30s.

The defender can play at center back and as a left back as well, which is invaluable to Guardiola.
