A member of Pep Guardiola's first team staff at City, Marseca is very highly rated in the game.

Dean Smith was not able to keep the club in the Premier League after taking interim charge following Brendan Rodgers' sacking.

The likes of Scott Parker were in the running for the job, but Maresca is the preferred candidate.
