Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini believes he may have lost the battle to sign a pair of star players this summer.

Mancini believes Valencia striker David Silva and Inter Milan right-back Douglas Maicon will be snapped up by the might of Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho and fears he may come away empty-handed despite his interest.

Brazil international Maicon revealed he does not want to play in Manchester but rather Madrid and Silva is believed to be keen to remain in Spain.
