Man City boss Guardiola hails Croatian pair after Luton thrashing

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was happy with their 5-1 rout of Luton.

Erling Haaland, Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku all struck on the day.

Guardiola said: “Not surprised at all, I know them [players who featured who are not regulars].

“You can not play the same people it is impossible, the three guys [Rúben Dias, Manuel Akanji and Josko Gvardiol] who played in Madrid they were incredible.

"It is a privilege to be here after many years to compete for the competitions.

"How many chances could we not score. It was not easy, but in the games you have to close it [out].

"More [chances], more and more then you don't win. We were patient and we didn't concede much."

On Gvardioal and Kovacic, he continued: "What a connection we have!

"Josko with the right foot is unbelievable, he feels more confident with the right foot - when he attacks inside he is a threat.

“Now he is a much better player and he doesn't lose balls, at the beginning he lost balls.

"Incredible guys [Gvardioal and Kovacic]

"Everyone has permission to score and it's so important."

On being at the top of the table, Guardiola added: "For a few hours.

"Tomorrow they have to play, all we can do is win our games and if we cannot do it we congratulate them.

"All you have to do is win games and we will try game by game."
