Man City boss Guardiola: Foden a big match performer

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola thinks that Phil Foden thrives in the biggest games of the season.

The English attacker was in prime form against Manchester United at the weekend.

Foden scored three goals and had an assist in a 6-3 drubbing of their bitter city rivals.

Guardiola admired Foden's mentality in the big games.

"The impact from Phil when I arrived was 'wow'. Even the second season he started to play in important games," said Guardiola.

"He doesn't feel the pressure, a bit like Bernardo [Silva] the bigger the stage he plays better. You saw the assist from Erling [Haaland], he started from our box and is able to make transitions box to box.

"He can do it but in smaller spaces is good, he can go to the byline or arrive to the box and shoot. As a striker he has the movements in behind and can play false nine. he can do many many things. I would say every year the more games you play you are a better player."
