Man City boss Guardiola called Alaba before Real Madrid move

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wanted to bring David Alaba to England last summer, it has been revealed.

Alaba left Bayern Munich for Real Madrid in a Bosman deal at the end of last season.

Okdiario says Guardiola made an attempt to convince the Austria captain to choose City over Real, calling the defender directly to discuss the move.

However, by the time the call came in, Alaba had already verbally committed to Real Madrid and their president Florentino Perez.

As such, the market shut with City and Guardiola without a new centre-half addition.
