Man City boss Guardiola and Akanji admits injury concern

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hopes to have Manuel Akanji fit for their Premier League game at the weekend.

The Sky Blues take on Chelsea, who are resurgent after a 4-1 win over Tottenham on Monday.

Guardiola knows his team will have to be at their best to maintain top spot in the Premier League with all three points.

He spoke on Akanij and fellow defender John Stones' injuries.

“It's muscular, he's injured and will be a while out," he told reporters on Stones.

“It's a pity for him because he's an incredible professional.

“He tried to do it. It's a pity. It's bad news for us. Bad news for tonight."

On Akanji, he added: “It was a problem with the back. He was training.

“When this happened, he looked like 75 years old.

“He could not play. That's why Kyle replaced him in that moment.

“Hopefully not a big issue and he will be ready for Sunday."
