Man City begin talks with Fernandinho over new contract

Fernandinho's recent performances could lead to a contract extension with Manchester City.

The 36-year-old has been pivotal in City's run to the Premier League title and Champions League final.

It was expected that Fernandinho would leave the club or retire once his contract expires this summer.

However, the Daily Mail says City have held discussions with the Brazilian midfielder about remaining at the club beyond his retirement.

Fernandinho has made 347 appearances in eight seasons with City.
