Man City beaten on Guardiola’s return to Bayern Munich

Manchester City have lost their first match under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, coincidentally to his former club Bayern Munich.

The Spaniard took his City charges to the Allianz Arena for a homecoming of sorts but it ended in a 1-0 defeat courtesy of Erdal Ozturk's 76th-minute goal.

Guardiola used six teenagers in his starting line-up which allowed Bayern to dominate proceedings early, only to be thwarted by veteran goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

The visitors were much better after the break as the likes of Yaya Toure, Bersant Celina and Wilfried Bony were introduced but it did not stop Bayern youngster Ozturk from firing home past substitute keeper Angus Gunn with the help of a deflection off Gael Clichy after Tosin Adarabioyo's clearance had hit the referee.

City started with Caballero in goal, a back four consisting of Pablo Maffeo, Adarabioyo, Aleksandar Kolarov and Angelino, and Fernando, Fernandinho, new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko, Brandon Barker, Jesus Navas and Kelechi Iheanacho in midfield and attack.

Nevertheless, City will pick themselves up and prepare for Monday's 2016 International Champions Cup clash with crosstown rivals Manchester United in Beijing.

City then take on German giants Borussia Dortmund in Shenzhen on July 28.
