Man City ace Sane: I could be playing for France; price-tag pressure?

Manchester City midfielder Leroy Sane has revealed he could be playing for France.

Sane, who has been in superb form for City this season, is now a first-choice for Germany coach Joachim Low. But his grandparents worked in France and his father is a former Toulouse player.

He told France Football: "I was born and raised in Germany. I still have family in France, but I feel German. That's why I decided to wear the shirt of the Nationalmannschaft.

"There was never any question of wearing that of France or Senegal. My country is Germany. I got a tattoo of the map of Senegal, it's true, as well as Germany's. Not that of France, sorry."

Meanwhile, on his €50m move from Schalke, Sane insists his price-tag doesn't bother him.

"I never think about it. What I cost, what it represents, sincerely, that does not worry me," he continued. "As I tell my friends and the players who ask me if I feel any pressure on all this money spent on me, it's not my fault that City has put so much on me.

"It's like for all those huge transfers made this summer, no player has to undergo particular pressure vis-à-vis that, because no one asked the clubs to pay so much for us! It's settled between clubs. That's why, when I arrived here, the only pressure I put on myself was to adapt and feel good in City."
