Maguire leads England to victory over Ireland as Bellingham makes debut

England cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland on Thursday.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire put the hosts ahead with an 18th minute header.

Jadon Sancho then doubled the advantage before half-time.

Bukayo Saka was fouled in the box by Cyrus Christie early in the second-half, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepping up to convert the spot-kick.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham came off the bench to become the third youngest England debutante.

It was the Three Lions first win over Ireland since 1985.

Speaking after the game, Gareth Southgate said: "We used the ball very well, created a lot of chances. We could have been more comfortable if we had taken some of those chances but overall very pleased.

"I thought we were a bit slow at the start but it is understandable because it is a team that has not worked together a lot. But over time our attack down the wings was good."
