Lyon power through to knockout stage with big win

French outfit Lyon have powered into the knockout stage of the Champions League with a 4-0 demolition of Debrecen.

Bafetimbi Gomis got the home side off to a good start when he followed up a Sidney Govou shot in the 25th minute before Michel Bastos doubled the advantage a minute prior to half-time when he got on the end of a Miralem Pjanic free-kick who had come on for the injured Govou on the half-hour mark.

The Bosnian teenager made it 3-0 in the 59th minute when he prodded home to put the contest beyond the Hungarians and Aly Cissokho rounded it out with 14 minutes remaining when he found the back of the net with a left-footed shot after Jean-Alain Boumsong provided the pass.

Lyon finished second in the group after Fiorentina defeated Liverpool to take the top ranking in Group E.
