Javier Hernandez has revealed the conversation that took place between he and Louis van Gaal prior to his Manchester United departure.
The Mexican striker spent last season on loan at Real Madrid after van Gaal took the reins at Old Trafford before moving on a permanent deal to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen this past summer.
Since his shift to Germany, Hernandez has scored 18 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions due to the confidence instilled in him by Roger Schmidt that was clearly not evident with van Gaal.
"I spoke with van Gaal and he said that I only had a one per cent chance of playing in my position, so I headed to Bayer," Chicharito said in an interview with 'Movistar' as reported by Marca.
"I felt confident from the very first day. I feel important, not just because of my goals, but because I feel that I'll start every game."
Hernandez spent five years United where he won two Premier League titles with the Red Devils.
