Luis Zubeldía has been named new coach of Alaves.

Alavés have appointed Zubeldía as their new head coach, with the Argentine signing a one-year deal at the LaLiga club.

The 36-year-old replaces compatriot Mauricio Pellegrino, who left Alavés in May after leading the Basques to ninth in LaLiga and a first ever Copa del Rey final.

"The appointment [of Zubeldía] has been agreed, subject to approval by the UEFA Jira Panel, which checks the qualifications of all non-European coaches," read a statement released by Alavés on Saturday.
