LOAN WATCH: Huddersfield kick off with win thanks to Chelsea starlet Palmer

Kasey Palmer has become an instant hit at Huddersfield Town after coming off the bench to score the winning goal on Saturday.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who joined the Terriers on a season-long loan from Chelsea last month, replaced Jack Payne in the 78th minute before managing to find the back of the net with his first touch in senior football.

Elias Kachunga had put David Wagner's side ahead in the 50th minute before former Arsenal youngster Nico Yennaris levelled for Brentford on 77 minutes at John Smith's Stadium.

But Palmer came up with a match-defining goal when taking a touch from Bees keeper Daniel Bentley's spillage, which was caused by Rajiv van La Parra's run and shot, and firing into an empty net, prompting the following reaction from Huddersfield boss Wagner.

"It was a perfect start for him but it wasn't just perfect for him, it was the perfect start for the whole club," said the German.

"When I sent Kasey on I said to him: 'Enjoy it and decide the game.' I think he enjoyed it!

"Kasey is a real talent who is intelligent and bright and has a good future in the game if he continues to work hard."
