Liverpool are targeting Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

BILD says the Reds are keen to add the 25-year-old to their midfield ranks when his contract expires in the summer.

It has been suggested that Gladbach cannot afford the player's new wage demands and they could be open to selling him in January in order to recoup some money.

Zakaria has returned to action after suffering a knee injury last season.

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the Swiss international in recent weeks.
