Liverpool rule out rivalling Chelsea for RB Leipzig striker Werner

Liverpool will not rival Chelsea for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Multiples outlets in the UK have reported that Chelsea have agreed to met Werner's release clause, believed to be around €55m.

The 24-year-old has previously stated his desire to work under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Klopp and the Reds were interested in Werner, but not needing to sign a forward this summer makes it hard for them to justify paying the fee, per the Evening Standard.

Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have dominated at Anfield over the past three seasons, which means Werner would struggle for regular playing time.

The Germany international understands this and has agreed to join Frank Lampard's Chelsea.

Klopp will instead rely on Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino as depth for his attacking stars.
