Liverpool midfielder Elliott assures fans: Our confidence has returned

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott insists confidence has been restored ahead of their clash with Brighton.

The Reds trail Premier League leaders Arsenal by nine points although they have a game in hand after their trip to Chelsea before the international break was postponed due to the passing of the Queen.

Elliott told the club's website: "To win before an international break, it's brought us to training this week in high spirits and in high hopes and hopefully we can push on from that win.

"The boys are all very confident and flying in training, as it has been all this season, so we can build on it and obviously with the fans as well, it's always good to have them in and around us.

"To play at home is always a massive help so hopefully we can get the result and give the fans what they want and build from the Ajax game.

"I think we benefit from playing in quick turnarounds, I think we have momentum in one game and then it's not long until you get to play again.

"And even if we don't get the result it's one of them where we can't dwell on it too much because we have another game in two or three days' time.

"So it's a great period for us and personally I think we perform to our best when we're in a momentum, when we're playing every three days or every two days. So we're really looking forward to it and hopefully we can turn things around."
