Liverpool legend Barnes linked with Tranmere Rovers job

Liverpool legend John Barnes is being linked with the job at Tranmere Rovers.

The News of the World says Barnes is set to be named Tranmere boss this week.

Barnes, now managing Jamaica, has been approached by Prenton Park chairman Peter Johnson to replace sacked Ronnie Moore.

And he'll be joined as an assistant on Merseyside by ex-Kop team-mate Jason McAteer.

Barnes, 45, had a stint as Celtic boss in 1999.
