Liverpool Ladies midfielder Lucy Staniforth faces a long lay-off after damaging a cruciate knee ligament, reports BBC Sport. The 21-year-old, who joined from Bristol Academy in January, suffered the injury in training on Tuesday.
"We are absolutely devastated for Lucy. She is likely to miss the majority, if not all, of the upcoming season," boss Matt Beard told the club website.
"She remains a key part of my plans for the future and I have no doubt that she will return a better and stronger player."
