Liverpool have made a tentative approach to Bayern Munich over the valuation of Thiago Alcantara.
BILD reports while Bayern want £36m for the 29-year-old, Liverpool are prepared to pay only half of that.
Thiago has told Bayern he has no plans on signing a contract extension and they are prepared to offload him this summer.
But in the circumstances and with funds at a premium following the coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool will not part with more than £18m.
It broke yesterday in Germany that Thiago had put his Munich home up for sale in a clear sign he was preparing to move away.
