Liverpool are eyeing a January move for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.

The Austrian has reportedly turned down the offer of a new contract at Bayern Munich, and could be set to follow in Thiago Acantara's footsteps.

Bild says the Bavarians have failed to reach an agreement with the defender following their latest round of negotiations.

The 28-year-old, who is comfortable at centre-back, left-back and in midfield, is on the Reds' shortlist of potential targets.

The Austria international is out of contract next summer and can leave on a free transfer at that point or sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.
