Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is expecting big things for Newcastle United under their new owners.

Mike Ashley sold Newcastle to a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium last week.

Klopp said today: "This is the third football club in the world that I know of that now belongs to a country and that belongs to the richest family on the entire planet. The opportunities that open up are of course enormous.

"The whole world was rightly upset by the Super League project. This is basically the Super League now - but for a club.

"Newcastle are guaranteed to play a dominant role in world football for the next 20 or 30 years."
