Liverpool boss Klopp agrees loan option for Aston Villa, Sheffield Utd target Woodburn

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has decided to release Ben Woodburn for loan this week.

The Liverpool Echo says Woodburn will not travel to the club's training camp in France on Monday as he prepares to go out on loan.

Championship clubs Aston Villa and Sheffield United are competing to secure the 18-year-old midfielder's services for the 2018/19 campaign.

Klopp has decided that a temporary move would be best for his development after he spent last season on the fringes of the senior squad.

Competition for places is greater than ever following the summer signings of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Klopp wants Woodburn to go and play regularly this season at a club where he will be valued. He believes he will be ready to compete for a first-team spot at Liverpool within the next 18 months.
