Les Ferdinand unimpressed by Newcastle keeper signing plans

Newcastle United bringing in a goalkeeper in the coming weeks may chance the fate of another shot stopper at the club.

Per Chronicle Live and other sources, the Magpies will target former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea or Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale.

With Nick Pope out with a shoulder problem for what could be several months, Newcastle need another keeper.

However, club legend Les Ferdinand says that would be the end of Martin Dubravka's time at Newcastle.

"I think if they bring in another goalkeeper that sort of spells the end for Dubravka," Ferdinand told talkSPORT.

"When he has gone in there he has done a fantastic job and he was unfortunate to lose his place to Nick Pope when Nick came in to be honest. Nick came in, took over and he has sat waiting patiently for this time.

"To bring in another goalkeeper, and I know there are a couple of names that have been mentioned already, would be really harsh on him."
