Former Newcastle United and Tottenham striker Les Ferdinand says his time with Besiktas was the making of him.
The QPR sporting director had a year in Turkey before signing for Newcastle.
He recalled to Fanatik: "Besiktas, is the club that made me. As a football player out there I took shape. I've matured in Besiktas.
"There were limited training facilities in Istanbul in those years, but I was placed with very good staff. The club solidarity and warmth, I saw an intimate and friendly environment.
"The experience I gained with Besiktas helped me move to a better place in the Premier League. I loved my days spent in Turkey, I am missing it.
"I know that they have not forgotten me even after these years. I thank the supporters in black and white on social media."
