Former Leicester City defender Bruno Berner believes that Jamie Vardy fully deserves his place in the England national team.

Following his storming campaign with Leicester last season, Vardy was rewarded with a Three Lions call-up for the friendly against Republic of Ireland in June and the striker was handed his first ever start for the Three Lions during the recent European qualifiers against San Marino.

It looks like Vardy is slowly establishing himself as a regular for England and Berner feels that the striker is a great addition to the Three Lions' side.

Berner told the Leicester Mercury: "When you have a striker with his quality, pace and potential to cause you problems, it is something every manager would like to have in their attack.

"For a defender it must be horrible to play against him because you never know where he is. You have to check your shoulder all the time.

"The pace he has when he runs the channels, he could open up any back four or three with those runs in behind the defence. A lot of players these days want the ball to feet. He loves to run off defenders and he brings a great quality to England's game."
