Leicester cast wide net for new striker signing

Leicester City are spreading a wide net as they go shopping this summer.

The Mail on Sunday says among the centre-forwards coming under consideration of manager Claudio Ranieri and head of recruitment Steve Walsh are Ahmed Musa, Lucas Perez, and Islam Slimani.

Musa, the 23-year-old CSKA Moscow forward, possesses terrific speed and Leicester tried to land the Nigeria international in January, launching a £20m bid.

Deportivo striker Lucas, 27, has enjoyed a prolific season, scoring 17 goals in 34 La Liga games and is described as similar to Jamie Vardy. His contract only expires in 2019 so would not come cheap.

Sporting Lisbon attacker Slimani, an Algeria team-mate of Riyad Mahrez, has been previously chased by Leicester and the club have observed the 27-year-old scoring 31 goals in 41 games this campaign.
