Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri is eager for Jamie Vardy to hit the goals trail again at club level.

Vardy could hold the key to Leicester's title bid, only behind Harry Kane in the scoring charts. He has 19 goals to his Tottenham counterpart's 21 and Ranieri backed his striker to take his England form into the game against Southampton.

"I'd like to see Jamie get past 20 goals - there is a big fight between him and Kane," said Ranieri. "I hope of course at the end Jamie can win this little battle.

'I'd like to see that, but he needs luck and some good moments. But he's scored twice for his national team and that'll give him good confidence and stamina.

"But we don't just score goals with Jamie, he also makes fantastic assists. And for us it's not important whether Jamie, Robert Huth or Kasper Schmeichel scores."
