Leeds United are seeking to reach a new deal with Jack Harrison.
The Northern Echo says the Whites want to secure Harrison's long-term future with Newcastle potentially set to return for him in January.
The Magpies had two bids rejected for Harrison during the summer as he featured highly on a list of winger/attacking midfield targets, that ultimately they failed to bring in.
Harrison has left than two years left to run on his current contract and Leeds are keen to ensure that Newcastle don't make another play for his signature.
