Leeds midfielder Phillips 'gassed' by praise from 'Ozil, Ballack and De Jong'

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is delighted with the way his profile has exploded thanks to his England performances at the Euros.

Phillips' performance in victory over Croatia earned him a man of the match reward on his tournament debut, plus a host of rave reviews from an array of top class former and current midfielders within the game.

“I was gassed, I went on social media after and saw that (Mesut) Ozil, (Michael) Ballack, Nigel De Jong had all tweeted about me and just to get that recognition from world class players like that is something I never expected." Phillips told the official England social media account.

"To get the assist in the first game, especially for Raz (Sterling) was great because it was his first goal in a major tournament.

“I just want to play every minute I can, and I feel like my fitness levels at the club, where Leeds United play have helped me a lot."
