America forward Mike Grella has left Leeds United to join Carlisle United on loan.

The 23-year old was struggling to force his way into the Leeds line-up and will now drop from the Championship to League One for a month where he will join countryman Frankie Simek at Brunton Park Stadium.

"Mike is a player that we know all about. He's young, full of energy, and he wants to be playing football," said Carlisle boss Greg Abbott.

"His opportunities have been limited this season, so he will come here and we think that will give us something a little bit different.

"We can now take a look at him and assess the situation in November."
