Leeds defender Struijk: We had chance to finish off Crystal Palace

Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk believes the Elland Road club should have finished off the game before the second half.

The away side were the better team in the first period, with Struijk scoring to give them a 1-0 advantage.

However, Palace equalised in the 24th minute, and scored again in the second half to sealed the points with a 2-1 success.

“I feel like we should have finished the game in the first half," said Struijk, per the club website.

“We should have scored one more goal and given ourselves more space for the second half.

“They came out strong in the second period though and scored the goals.

“In our plan, we executed it well in the first half, we played well and got the first goal, but conceding the goal late into the half was annoying.

“You have to give them credit for coming out strong in the second half.

“We need to get better and hold onto results or make the difference even bigger, so that if teams pull a goal back, we are still winning."
