Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has pulled out of Italy's squad this week.

Immobile admits a recent thigh injury has been aggravated.

"Fortunately, the old scar didn't open up again, it's a fairly small issue that won't take long to recover from," Immobile told reporters at the presentation of the Match for Peace in Rome.

“Unfortunately, I have lots of time to recover now. Possibly too much time."

Italy are not going to the World Cup and Serie A will not resume until January 4, 2023.
