Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi: Derby win historic

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi felt their 3-0 thumping of Roma was 'historic'.

Felipe Caicedo opened the scoring after 12 minutes, then Ciro Immobile converted a penalty for Federico Fazio's foul on Joaquin Correa until a late Danilo Cataldi strike.

"This meant a lot to us and the victory can give us so much enthusiasm going forward," Inzaghi told DAZN.

“We had just three-and-a-half days to prepare for this, but the lads did such a good job. We're happy to have given such a wonderful evening to our fans, as nights like this remain in Lazio history."

He added: "We proved with Milan and Roma that we played better and deserved our results. It's a pity we dropped a few points lately with the injuries piling up, as if we'd had other options even to rotate the squad during busy weeks, we could've been higher up the table.

“The fact remains, Lazio can cause every opponent trouble and we'll fight it out to the end if we always go out there with this conviction and this heart.

“Today is my mother's birthday and I don't think I could've given her a better gift than this victory."
