Lascelles not worried about Newcastle training ground bust-ups

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has no problems with the occasional bust up in training.

The Magpies are hoping to continue their story in the Premier League beyond this season.

It seems like it may be another relegation fight for Newcastle, and Lascelles wants to ensure he is in fine form all season.

He spoke about a range of topics, including training bust ups, with The Getting Messi Podcast.

He said: "There have been loads of handbags all the time but in terms of a full-blown fight, it doesn't really happen because players jump in and break it up.

"I've seen players get hit, been hit myself but nothing that has been really messy.

"It can't happen really because the minute it does, the coach is jumping, the staff are breaking it up and the players are pulling each other away so it's nothing major."

He continued: "It's not happened for a while now - not last year but the year before we went through a spell where I don't know what it was.

"I think the level of competitiveness in training because we were just getting after it and everyone was like hungry and things used to always spark up where people lash out, grab each other and then it got broken up but it was nothing too crazy."
