Lampard due bumper Champions League bonus as part of Chelsea contract

Derby boss Frank Lampard will have a bumper Champions League bonus as part of his Chelsea contract.

The Daily Mailsays Lampard is set to earn £4million-a-year to lead Chelsea - a significant amount less than a lot of other Premier League managers in the Champions League mix.

But there are bonuses on offer to the former midfielder, Lampard will take home an extra £1million just for keeping the club in the top four.

Chelsea edged into the places at the end of last season and Lampard simply has to make sure that performances do not drop to earn his extra cash.

Lampard and his Derby County assistant Jody Morris - another former Chelsea player - were excused from the first day of pre-season training by Rams owner Mel Morris on Monday, paving the way for his much-anticipated move back down south to Stamford Bridge.
