Adam Lallana is urging Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to splash out on a new striker this summer.
The midfielder concedes the Reds have lacked firepower this season following the sale of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge's injury problems.
"It is no secret we need a striker so hopefully one comes in," said Lallana.
"I'm sure the club is working behind the scenes, that is not in my hands."
When asked if having Suarez and Sturridge would have made a difference to him, he said: "Possibly.
"It has been made public we are looking for strikers and I'm sure we are and I think we have missed that 20 goals a season man up top.
"You add 20 goals to our season it would have made a lot of difference."
