LaLiga president Tebas demands UEFA take action against PSG over €635M Mbappe contract

LaLiga president Javier Tebas is calling on UEFA to get serious about PSG and their spending.

It's been reported this week that PSG made Kylian Mbappe the highest paid athlete in history to the tune of €635m over three years. The decision being made to thwart Real Madrid's Bosman attempts for the Frenchman.

Tebas told L'Equipe: "We knew PSG would have to pay a lot of money to keep Mbappé.

"Knowing (Nasser) Al-Khelaïfi, however, doesn't seem like much ... He has no limits to achieve his goals. PSG and Al-Khelaïfi have shown that the money is not their problem. If it had been necessary to give another 200 million to the player, they would have given it.

"However, under the current rules it is impossible for PSG to meet those expenses. In the last six or seven seasons, PSG has lost 1 billion euros; thus falsifying the ecosystem of European football.

"How can other clubs compete with someone who loses 1 billion euros? It's complicated.

"I can't explain it. And that is why we have denounced this situation. Rules need to be applied more effectively; UEFA fined PSG, 10 million for Nasser is like having a coffee! The penalties must be dissuasive and also affect the players. This is not good."
