Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has hit out at his critics - only to be taunted by teammate Alexandre Lacazette.

Mustafi has vowed to channel all the criticism and use it to rise up and show he is a better player than many believe.

In an Instagram pose while on holiday, he used his hands to conjure up the shape of a bird.

Then he wrote: "Back on top. An Eagle uses the negative energy of a storm to fly even higher #sm20".

But in true dressing room fashion, the philosophical post drew an instant piece of banter from one of his team-mates.

Striker Lacazette was quick to spot the social media message, and rather than give his support he instead focused on the dark image which left Mustafi in silhouette.

Lacazette wrote: "No abs anymore".
