LA Galaxy star David Beckham is keen to move back to England in a bid to push for a place in the World Cup.

The former England captain is intent on pushing for selection for Fabio Capello's South Africa 2010 squad and knows he will have to get out of America to do so.

It has been reported that Beckham is trying to lure his wife, Victoria, back to England but she is reluctant because of her newfound love for Los Angeles.

A source told the Daily Star: "David is desperate to lure Victoria back to England. He's very honest with her about his ambitions.

"These include his dream of being the most-capped player in the history of English football.

"To fulfil this fantasy he needs to play for England in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

"But he knows his wife loves their new life in Hollywood."
