High profile sports director Klaus Allofs has been sacked by VfL Wolfsburg.
With the team in 15th position in the Bundesliga standings and a change of coach, Allofs was dramatically fired yesterday.
"It is personally a sad day for me. After intensive discussions, we have come to the decision for the best interests of VfL Wolfsburg," said the 60 year-old.
"I wish for VfL that new forces are released and 'we' quickly return to where this club belongs with its fans - namely upwards! It was a great honor for me to work for VfL Wolfsburg."
Allofs availability will be of interest to Premier League clubs, where the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal are all in need of a football director of his experience and expertise.
