Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has praised Miguel Almiron for the way he has turned around his career in England.
The Paraguayan international arrived at Newcastle from Atlanta United in MLS with a big reputation.
However, he struggled under Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce, and seemed destined for an exit.
He has since turned it around under Eddie Howe, as the team flirts with the Champions League places.
"Almiron is the player I want to give most credit to," Keown told BBC's Football Focus.
"It's interesting he was being ridiculed by Man City players, who alluded to, if you're 'having an Almiron', you're having a nightmare.
"Now, if you're having an Almiron, you're having a worldie because he is playing absolutely different class.
“He's turned it around, his career, and he's done it with his teammates."
